Minister of Finance of the SR

Peter Kažimír was born on June 28, 1968 in Košice, Slovak Republic. He graduated at the University of Economics in Bratislava, major subject: foreign trade.
Mr. Kažimír is serving his second consecutive term as finance minister after being reappointed in March 2016 for four more years (until 2020). In the second half of the last year, during Slovakia’s Presidency in the Council of the European Union, Mr. Kažimír, officially represented the EU and the Eurogroup at the G20, G7 meetings as well as the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund.
From 1993 to 2006, Mr. Kažimír worked in the field of industrial real estate and business restructuring. Between 2001 – 2006 he was a member of the Supervisory Board at the DDP Credit Suisse Life and Pensions. In 2006, Mr. Kažimír was appointed State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic. In this period, he was also a Chairman of the Supervisory Board at the National Nuclear Fund. From 2010 to 2012, he was a Member of Parliament and Vice-Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee. Mr. Kažimír was three times elected Member of Parliament and since 2010 he has been also the Vice-Chairman of Social Democrats (SMER-SD). In April 2012, Mr. Kažimír was appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the Slovak Republic.
